TSUNAMI The word “tsunami” comes from Japanese language meaning Great Waves (Tsu: port and Nami: wave). Tsunami is a natural disaster caused by rising sea waves to the mainland at high speeds due to the earthquake centered under the sea. The quake happens caused by some factors such as soil erosion, the plates were shifting, volcanic eruptions and the meteor that crashed in the ocean. When the earthquake occurs, plaque sea floor cracks and up or sink suddenly. It makes some layers of the sea floor up to the surface of the sea with a powerful shiver. The tsunami can occur in all regions of the world ocean, but in the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding areas have the highest possibility of occurrence of tsunami, because most of the earthquake occur in the line of Pacific Ocean, or more commonly known as the Pacific Ring of Fire (the area that often gets earthquake and volcano eruption).
